Victory at Rallye Maroc
18 Oct 2024
Toyo Tires supplied their Open Country M/T R tires, made using sustainable materials, to Team Land Cruiser Toyota Autobody (TLC) at the Morocco Rally 2024 held from Friday, October 4 to Friday, October 11. The team's Toyota Land Cruiser 300GR Sport cars drove to class victories in the african rally raid.
Victory came in two classes, both contested in the team's Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport cars. The #500 car, driven by Ronald Basso took the stock class win in the FIA event while the #701 car of Akira Miura was victorious in the Open Auto class of the National event held simultaneously over the same course.
The Moroccan Rally is part of the world's highest level off-road rally-raid competition series, the World Rally-Raid Championship, governed by the FIA. The race is normally a precursor to the Dakar Rally which follows every January, with many drivers participating to make final adjustments to their vehicles and tires before the start in Saudi Arabia.
Supporting TLC's bid for a 12th consecutive Dakar Rally stock class championship win, the Open Country M/T-R was specially developed to provide excellent traction on tough roads with heavy going and heavy sand dunes.
Rallye Maroc is a grueling course of 2,468 racing kilometers in five challenging stages stage for the participants to overcome. Miura and Basso successfully mastered the arduous conditions, to win their respective classifications.
Toyo Tires' use experience gained from competing in off-road racing in harsh environments to improve development of tires for pickup trucks & SUVs, refining performance. The insights gained through racing inform product development, delivering higher performance, higher quality as well as attractive products globally.
